SPORTS EDITOR -- 1958 to 1988,

2007 - Mentor Heart of Gold Award -- An Arlington Heights resident covering local high school sports as Assistant Managing Editor for the Arlington Heights Daily Herald. Through his featured sports column he has had a tremendous impact on student athletes of the high schools serving Arlington Heights. His columns emphasize the lessons to be learned from practice as well as from competition. His stories and columns affect the character of children athletes and help them see their team participation as a journey, not just measured in wins and losses. His work has raised spirits and encouraged a constructive, positive attitude in the life of our community.

2000 -- Received Recognition Award from Illinois Track and Cross Country Coaches Association.

1998 -- Received Distinguished Service Award from the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers Association.

1992 -- Received Meritorious Service Award from the Illinois Girls Coaches Association.

1990 -- Inducted into the Media Wing of the Illinois Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame in Normal, Illinois.

1989 -- Named Sportsman of the Year, Northwest Community Hospital.

1983 -- Received Distinguished Service Award, National Conference of High School Directors of Athletics in Orlando, Fla., for enthusiastic leadership and support in the field of interscholastic athletics.
